Monday Morning Check-In: Hello again

Good Monday morning everyone.  What is this?  Am I over my depression?  Is the old Amy back in the swing of things.  Sadly no.  I am feeling a bit better thanks to a relaxing day out across Eastern Iowa but it would be foolish for me to think my depression left so quickly.  I have a doctor’s apt in Iowa City this morning for my first three-month check-up and so I had a little free time where I couldn’t work on a project so I thought I would check in with all you good folks.

On the reading front, I managed to finish a review book about nine days after it released.  There are three other books coming out this month that I need to get my butt in gear and read.  Two of them are due by July 11th.  One of them has an archive date on the 11th so it needs to be started now, but the other has an archive date in August so I’m not as worried about getting that one read by release date.  I have an interesting read by Wesley Snipes the actor from Blade.  It is a vampire urban fantasy book and I’m curious to see how he does.   I also have two audiobooks to listen to, both of them I’m equally excited about so I’m not sure which to start first.

Tomorrow is the Fourth of July and the town I grew up in holds one of the best fireworks displays in the state so husband and I will be headed over there early to get a good parking spot.  I requested we go really early this year because it is also the 30th anniversary of my mother’s death and I would like to take flowers to her grave.  After that, we will have several hours of not a whole lot to do but read as we wait for the show.  Despite losing my mother on that day the Fourth of July remains my favorite holiday.  Probably because of all the fond memories I have of the day with her.

I hope you all have a safe and happy holiday!  Happy Reading ~Amy
