Read this month: 7 Books, 1,274 Pages
Read this year: Books, 16,846 Pages
Well I read only two “real” books this month. If it wasn’t for audio books and three quick reads from Blogging for Books I would have only two books for the month of October. I blame Fire Touched which just didn’t work for me. I do enjoy the author but that book was such a struggle for me. Probably means I’m going to be turned down for her next release that I put in a review request for… I was actually turned down for Fire Touched too (Berkley doesn’t like me, not enough followers). That’s okay I’ll read them eventually and have no qualms what so ever if I need to give it a less than stellar review. (sorry, feeling snippy today) Caught up on the Vampire’s of America series and eagerly awaiting that next release too. I just haven’t been able to focus. I blame YouTube. It is shortening my attention span…
I have passed the reading goal that I signed up for late in the year. I have officially read at least one book a week for 2016, everything I read in the next two months will be bonus. I’m hoping to get over 60 maybe 70 books read in total. That will mean I need to stop wasting time on the internet and on books that don’t work for me, even if it is an author I enjoy. I’m out of review books at the moment and haven’t seen much that interests me so I might take the rest of the year off as far as review books go (of course I will put in requests for favorite authors). Who know we will see. I would also like to work on reading some of the titles I have piling up in my bedroom. I am already outgrowing those two cases and continue to bring home cheap books. The article I posted about yesterday for Monday Morning Check-In has me a little bummed. I am seriously considering giving up ARCs and working with publisher at all. I just don’t feel like they like us/me very much. They want us to promote their books but consider us nothing but pains in their ass. I don’t know. Maybe I’m wrong. Maybe I’ll take 2017 off and only read books I already own. Give up ARCs completely. Again we will see. I would like to think up some sort of gimmick or theme for next year though. Maybe a year of reading only what is one my TBR list for one year is an idea. Let me know what you think. Would it be boring to only read reviews for books that have been out for some time? Or do you only care about up and coming titles? What’s hot now. I’m kind of digging this idea of exploring older releases, finding those forgotten gems.
