Month in Review

Read this month: 2  Books, Pages 1,140

Read this year:  2 Books, Pages 1,140

A Feast for Crows (A Song of Ice and Fire, #4) & Cats in Paris: A Coloring Book of the Felines of Paris

Looking Back:

I feel as if I’ve sunk to a new low.  I only read two books last month (really only one, because common the other is a coloring book…)!  Oh sure I’m about half way through Dance with Dragons giving me a total of around 1,690 pages (okay maybe it is like seven 240 page books), but still that isn’t much(for me from two years ago.).  I’m going to blame the caucus and my status as a political junkie.  I’ve been following the race, going to rallies and pimping my candidate all over Facebook.  If you know me in real life I’ve been awful annoying lately. Tomorrow is the big day though and after that this whole campaign circus blows out-of-town and I’m hoping my time frees up for some serious reading.  Of course I’m not taking any challenges this year so it really shouldn’t matter if I read one book in a month or ten, but old neurosis die hard and I’m still obsessed with how much I’m reading.

Looking Ahead:

February is a short month and I hope to finish up Dance with Dragons catching me up completely with that series then read a couple of review books and then turn to some books I’ve bought or been gifted recently. I also hope to have a giveaway for you all this month.  I was cleaning my office, or rather moving my office, and came across a coloring book I received for review.  It isn’t really my taste, but still a very nice book.  So next week or the one after look for a Rafflecopter giveaway to go live on the blog.

That’s all I’ve got for this month. I need to get back to Dance with Dragons which has become a bit of a struggle lately. I don’t want to DNF, but I sure wish it was a bit more exciting…

  1. I feel you on the Game of Thrones books (can’t remember the series title right now, lol) I’ve read the first two over the past three years, and although I enjoyed them, it’s a struggle to pick them up.

Hope you are enjoying all your political fun-ness. As an Australian, we sit back and shake our heads at your very complicated political system – ours is simple – don’t like the current Prime Minister, you just stab him/her in the back and get yourself elected! Here’s to your candidate, and I’ll be watching from afar, scratching my head and wondering what the is going on! Haha.

    • Believe me we shake our heads too. There has to be a better way. I wish we could take some of your policies for our own like the compulsory voting! Maybe we wouldn’t have the corrupt system we have now if everyone was forced to participate. I also wish our politicians had the guts to do what your government did with gun reform. Someday we will drag the rest of our country into the light, kicking and screaming probably, and join the rest of the modern world. I just hope it is in my lifetime. Meanwhile enjoy the show and pass the popcorn.
