Monday Morning Question: Bookish Projects?

Good Monday morning everyone.  I hope you all had a great weekend and got in more reading than me… This morning I thought I would share with you a little bit about my upcoming project and ask:

Have you done any bookish/crafty projects in your home?

I have a stair case in the middle of our house to the second floor that is in desperate need of something.  Anything besides the white walls it currently is.  I tried postcards, we have a lot,  and while it looked pretty cool they kept falling…  So walking the stairs, picking up the current crop of cards that had recently leapt to their doom, I was struck with an idea.  I had two copied of one of my favorite books I could take apart one and wallpaper the wall with it.  Husband was not on board.  After some negotiation and switching to an old discarded book of American Birds with lovely pictures in it I have the green light to go ahead with my new bookish project.  I will post a follow-up post with pictures of the steps I took and the finish project later.  I’m pretty excited and think it is going to look amazing.

So what bookish craft projects have you done?  How do you feel about finding a new use for old books?  Or do you think it sacrilege to cannibalize any books for the sake of decor?  Share your thoughts in the comments.

  1. I love books and reading, but it does come to a point where the house gets full of them. I can’t throw a book, and most people don’t want the physical thing anymore. So I tend to find ways of reusing them whithout completely destroying them. My latest project is book folding into little birdhouses. If I want to read the book again…I can just unfold it!!! Can’t wait to see what you are going to do.

    1. I should be reading, but I’m too excited about the project so I’m starting today. Look for pictures soon! Thanks for sharing, what a great idea with the book folding!
