Top Ten Tuesday: New (to me) Authors 2014

Welcome to another contribution to the wildly popular Top Ten Tuesday hosted by The Broke and The Bookish.  This week they ask us to share: December 9: Top Ten New-To-Me Authors I Read In 2014.  There were quite a few authors I discovered this year thanks to the blog.  I’ve requested some for review through Net Galley, others through reading your reviews and top-ten lists, and yet even more thanks to Goodreads.  Below are the top ten new-to-me authors I’ve read in 2014.  I look forward to seeing all your lists.  (links take you to author’s Goodread’s pages)

  1. Darynda Jones:  This is the author of the Charley Davidson series.  This is my favorite new series this year as well.  I love Charley and Reyes’s adventures.
  2. Andy Weir:  This is the author of my favorite read of the year, The Martian.  I so hope that he continues to publish stories.
  3. Rebecca Zanetti:  I am currently reading the last book in the Dark Protectors series by this author.  I enjoy the series but might not be continuing with the spin-off series about the witches.  Might look into one of her other series though.
  4. Sylvia Day:  Yes I got hooked on the Crossfire Series.  I did try one of her other series and didn’t care for it as much, but I do have another story by here downloaded, this one about vamps.  I am going to give that one a try to and if it doesn’t catch me I’ll stick to her contemporary romances.
  5. Chloe Neill:  Started the Chicagoland Vampires series this year and have enjoyed it tremendously. The setting is what initially drew me in, being familiar with Chicago, it took me about four books to really get hooked, but once I was…wow.
  6.  Tricia Skinner: I’ve received several of the Angel Assassin series novels for review this year and expect only good things to come from this author.
  7. D.B. Reynolds:  This is another author I found through Net Galley.  I started the series in the middle and whenever they offered up another title for review would request it.  They kept approving so I’ve managed to work my way through the Vampires in America series.
  8. Patricia Briggs:  Started this series in the beginning of the year and quickly worked my way through the Mercy Thompson and Alpha & Omega series.
  9. Donna June Cooper: This author contacted me about a review and I’ve managed to work my way through her Books of the Kindling.  A little different from what I usually read, but quite good.  I have her upcoming release Making Magic on my list to read and review soon.
  10. Charlotte McConaghy:  I’ve only read one book by this Australian author, but really need to read more.

  1. You are so lucky that you only discovered the Crossfire series this year and haven’t had to wait that long for the next book to come out. Love the crossfire series but as am yet to read anything else Sylvia Day has written.
