Book 3.5 in the Immortal Guardians series.
I received a copy of this book from the publisher through Netgalley for an honest review.
Originally published in “Predatory”
“In Dianne Duvall s world of Immortal Guardians, the stakes for mortals are high, but the cost especially to the heart might be higher “
It s not the first time Immortal Guardian Richart d Alencon has saved a human life from eternal damnation. Usually, he moves on, a nameless savior like a ghost in the night. But this time he can t seem to forget the woman who rewarded him with a sensuous kiss after he rescued her from a trio of vampires. While Richart knows that loving a human can only bring trouble, the taste of forbidden lust is too great to resist
Jenna never imagined she d end up a single mom working overtime to put her son through school. But she might have daydreamed once that a devastatingly gorgeous Frenchman would sweep her off her feet. Now that a package of tall, dark, and handsome seems intent on doing just that, doctors are telling her she may not have long to live. But Richart is telling her just the opposite. All she has to do is abandon her humanity
Shortly after I received a copy of book five in this series I saw this novella come up for review, hadn’t read it yet so took a shot and requested it. As you can see they approved so I am not all caught up on this world that I’ve become quite fond of. This is Richart and Jenna’s story, and I was surprised I hadn’t read it before or noticed that I haven’t read it yet. Richart is one the three French siblings in this tight-knit community of Guardians. He and his twin brother having both been turned by their sister.
I enjoyed the story, it was very sweet, and I liked how smitten Richart became with Jenna. I thought them a good match and was pleased with the outcome. I have a few complaints, that I will go into later, nothing serious though. We were able to get to know Sheldon better in this story, he has an important role or cameo in book five, so it was nice to understand him better. I appreciated how level-headed Jenna was, she took to this new world she was thrust into quite well and, while a bit convenient, I did like how her story line ended up.
My complaints: Too short. These two are quite a cute couple, would have liked to spend some more time with them. Hope they show up in future books. Also didn’t get to see many of the other characters I love, especially Seth, who was noticeably absent or there for such a short time I didn’t notice him. Other wise great addition to the series. Look forward to reading more!
