Welcome to my weekly feature where I dig through old reviews from my Goodreads account and share them with you all.  This week with the recent release of the movie Divergent I thought it appropriate to share my review of the book.  I will also include links to the reviews of book two and three at the end.  Just click on the book to be taken to them.

Divergent by Veronica Roth

I rated this book three stars.

Interesting Dystopian YA book that I read for a local library’s book talk. I liked that it was set in Chicago, since I have been there many times it was easy to picture the settings described in the story. In this world the people divide themselves up into one of fractions based on what their core beliefs. It was a little difficult to remember what each group and what they stood for, but I just rolled with it and it didn’t keep me from enjoying the story. From the history of this civilization you learn that each group started off with high ideals, but as time passed they all have become corrupt and twisted in their beliefs and want for power, you know kind of how things are now in society and government. By the end the fractions have started a war upon each other and a couple of them essentially disbanded. Like I said I read this for a local book talk group cause it was close to what I might pick to read myself, but wasn’t already on my list. I’m glad I read it and look forward to seeing what happens in the next book.
