Book Two of the Charley Davidson Series.

Aw man, major cliffhanger at the end of book two.  This is why I love waiting for a series to have a few books out or be finished before I start reading it.  I don’t have to wait a year to find out what happens, I can pick up book 3 and start reading instantly.  Of course I am taking a break from my binge reading weekend to submit my review while it is all fresh in my mind.

Book two is another winner as far as I’m concerned,  yes,  my review is going to be another love fest. I’ll try to think up some sort of criticism, but probably not that hard.  This series has been a great mix of drama/action and humor and combined both sides of the paranormal genre that I love, the wild and wacky with the gritty and dangerous.  The chemistry is building between Charley and Reyes ever so deliciously slow.  It is nice to have a world where the two love interests don’t just fall into a relationship, sometimes it is nice to savor.  And Oy could I savor Reyes,  he is definitely Yummy with a capital Y.  I’ve had my favorite book boyfriends (I think they are called that) Eric Northman from Sookie’s series, Tohrment from Blackdagger Brotherhood series, and Matthew Clairmont from Discovery of Witches series.  I’m thinking that Reyes is now tied with Matthew for men from books I would like to be trapped on a deserted island with (sorry hubby, you too of course).

Alright drooling done now.  I like how in this series there is more than one mystery going on at a time.  In book two we have the drama from a missing Reyes, a friend of Cookie’s that is in trouble and an old case of her father’s to deal with.  Part of the humor comes from Charley’s need to juggle all of this at once.  Of course it seems that she is bound to attract people wanting to do her harm and Charley’s life is once again endangered multiple times in this book.  We also have a few souls that she has to help along the way, but much of this book is not centered around her Reaper duties, which I find kinda nice.  How depressing would it be to only be able to help the already dead,  I’m glad she also gets to help the living.  Still the departed that Charley helps remains some of my favorite moments from these books.  Still brings tears to my eyes and touches my heart, the idea that people…souls  find such peace in the end.  As someone that has lost most of my family member already, this idea just touches my heart.

If you are one of my friends on Facebook or follow me on Twitter you have been hearing all about my obsession with this series.  The subscribers to my blog as well.  I really do recommend this series to anyone who loves the paranormal genre.  Those who wish to stick their toes in and get a sampling of a paranormal book this is a great one to try too.   There is not a lot of gratuitous sex scenes, oh there is some sex and lots of sexy situations, but it is not a romance book.  It is a paranormal mystery that has a smoking hot guy (fans will get that) and some seriously steamy scenes with a whole lot of teasing going on for those of us used to more sex in our stories. It is a lot of fun though and one hell of a ride.

Now if you will excuse me I must find out what happens next.  Like I mentioned book two left of with quite the cliffhanger and I can’t wait in limbo anymore. Happy Reading, Amy
